what to drink?

Day 3

I have been giving this one some thought. I don’t drink tea or coffee so i don’t need to give those up, but if did i would be doing. They are addictive. Ask anyone who is a regular tea or coffee drinker if they could live without and i think you will find that they say ‘no’ or ‘no way, couldn’t live without it’, well, actually you can because i do.

The water in the that comes out the taps in the UK is perfectly good enough to be drank without having to buy bottled water, so they won’t be any bottled water either. Although i do like flavoured water the problem with those is that they often contain added sugar or sweeteners, which i am planning on doing my best to avoid too. So the first drink on my list is plain water out of the tap. In a normal day i drink about a litre but i don’t measure it. I fill up my water bottle when it get empty and drink it until it is empty again. Your own body is so programmed that it will tell you when it is thirsty but be careful you don’t fill the space with sugar – this i shall explain next week. If i long for flavoured water then i shall add fresh lemon and maybe even lime.

So i have WATER.

The next drink i am keeping and that is herbal teas. There is nothing i find so delicious as looking down into pink tea or green tea and there is always this lovely aroma which helps to lift my mood too.

So i have HERBAL TEA

I have been thinking about fruit juices. They have their benefits the problem is we drink far to much and far to often without discrimination. So these are my guidelines for fruit juices; they must contain no extra sugar and or sweeteners, and they must not be made from concentrates. As to the flavours that still needs some looking into and i will let you know.

So now i have FRUIT JUICE

The last thing i want to add is whole milk. Anything but whole milk is not a natural product and if you are drinking skimmed milk because you think it is better for you, it isn’t. Making it skimmed removes the vitamin A and D which actually need so out bodies can absorb the calcium and magnesium in milk. People are short of the basics because they don’t actually take them into their bodies in the first place. A personal note i haven’t drank whole milk since my youngest child went 5 and that’s about 14 years ago. So it will be a change for me too.

Lastly i have MILK

This is the basics, this is it for now at least.

  1. Great choices – I happy if I can avoid high-fructose corn syrup.

  2. great selections. I rarely drink fruit juices for all the reasons you mentioned. the odd time that I do, I dilute it with water! My favourite herbal tea is a licorice tea made by Stash.
