Family History and photographs

I thought i would share with you a few more wedding photos. Wedding photos are a good way to get all the family in one place.

Wedding of John William (Bill)  to Molly Charlesworth Aug. 1937 Left, 2nd from left, Alfred John William (John) Freeman, in front of him, his wife, Nellie nee Johnson, bridesmaid on right, Elsie Freeman. To have a wedding of this kind in 1937 meant money, this wedding wouldn’t have come cheap. Most brides would have got married in their Sunday best which was often a suit.

Wedding of Alfred Tennant to Annie Wright (nee Mullarky) in 1948 in Bradford. From l-r friends of the bride and Mother cannot remember who they were but she thinks the second one was called Elsie, Harry Norton, Margaret Norton (Tennant) sister of the groom, Alfred Tennant, Annie Wright, Alfred Potts (friend of the groom) Marion Tennant (my mother, who didn’t want to be there but had to go anyway) and a friend of her Dad’s (the groom).

The wedding of my Grandmother Lily Hirst (nee Morton) to her second husband Leonard Gilchrist. I remember going to this wedding i think it was in 1968 which would  have made me about 6. I don’t remember anything about it other than being there. The top photograph is an example of what not to do with your photographs; l-r my auntie’s Marion, Lena and Patricia, my Dad’s sister and Lily is their Mother. The bottom photograph (which i may get wrong) l-r I think it’s my great aunt Winnie and her husband John Firth. I am sure someone will tell me otherwise if i am wrong.

This is my sister’s wedding in 1987; Julie Dawn Hirst to Paul Heggarty. l-r and back to front Brian Shutt (Uncle), Lena Shutt (Hirst, Aunt), Marion Hirst (Tennant, mother) Barbara Wilson (Hirst, sister); Robert? Philip? (friend), Beverley Wilson (niece), Gordon Wilson (brother-in-law), Malcolm Hirst (Father); me, Carole Hirst (sister) Paul Heggarty, Julie Dawn Hirst, Lily Gilchrist (Hirst/Morton) Leonard Gilchrist, Ian Rowen, Phillip Wilson, Sarah Rowen, Michael Smith (the baby, my son), Joeleen Rowen, Samantha Rowen (in front), Laura Wilson, Pamela Wilson (nieces and nephews) and not forgetting bump who became Danielle Leah Heggarty.

I thought you might like another one of these, I might just keep sneaking them in now and again. l-r Karen Hirst (sister-in-law), Carole Hirst (sister), Charlotte Heggarty (niece and bean), Hassan (great nephew), Leah (niece) Stewart Hirst (brother), Bethany (bridesmaid) Nadia, Nerees, Arthur Smith (bride’s father) Grace Bell, Adam Bell, Chloe (niece), Emily (bridesmaid), Michael (behind) Christina, Marion (my Mother), Samantha Rowen (niece), Tanessha (probably spell it wrong), Malcolm Hirst (my Father), and me.

This week is get the photos put and label them before you forget who is In them or the only person who knows isn’t here to ask any more.
