‘Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God.’ (Doctrine & Covenants 88:199)
We all want order. However we are always waiting for someone else to create it for us. This has to stop! Most of us will live in a building of some kind, most of us will live in a house, including me. I shall show you my house another day. Many will look at photographs in magazines of these perfect homes and think ‘why oh why can’t mine be like that?’
It can, but only if you don’t want to live in the same house and have a 24 hours cleaning/maid service. Personally i do not have either of those things. However most of the mess in my house, is my mess, that is because most of the time there is only me living here with a couple of cats. However i do have other problems, such as pain and fatigue and so getting anything done can take some time, even on a day to day basis.
So here is a few pointers -
Organize yourselves
- start with your own personal things, clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc
- try the 333 project with Courtney Carver
- go through your make up and your toiletries
- shoes??? you only have one pair of feet
Needful Things
- Keep only those things that are needful
- Have your home how you want it to be
- Do you use it, have you used it in the last 6 months?
- Throw, give or donate
- Show no mercy
I have spent most of the last year de-cluttering my house with the help of a couple of young men from church. Is my house like a magazine photo shoot? No it isn’t, but at least i can actually see what needs doing next. Creating order takes time, in fact it takes a life time and maintaining it will take a life time and a half. Go slowly, have fun. We all want a house of order, i know it is what i would love to have.
One of my goals (?) this year is to create order in my life. I will show you want i am doing and i will share what i have found useful from others. I have signed up for my own Happiness Project.
So where will you begin?

I LOVE order! My mind feels so much better when there is no clutter… so although it accumulates from time to time, I usually clean it up regularily. I am always getting rid of STUFF! Our move was a great reason to de-clutter so that has been great.
In the past i have tried to keep order but since my accident and everything that as followed it some days it takes all i have to get out of bed. And my children think mum’s house is free storage until they decide they don’t actually want what they have left here and then i have to get rid of it.
I love order too xxxx
