Firstly i apologise, although i did explain to a friend that they should never apologise for anything they say, but that said, i apologise if you are
a) bored with the subject of pain
b) or i have said what i am about to say already
They say that new research is showing that Fibromyalgia is cause by sensitive nerves in the palm of the hands and not in the brain. What a load of hogwash. What they really need is to constantly live with pain and fatigue themselves and then come up with such nonsense.
Another friend of mine, yes i have several, gave me a leaflet on pain control and the first point is Acceptance.
Acceptance is the hardest thing in the world. We think we have it and then all of a sudden we don’t. At the moment i am reading a novel called ‘I capture the castle by Dodie Smith’ and one of the main characters, Cassandra, is trying to work something out, accept it if you like and the vicar tells her to go and sit in an empty church, not to pray, but to just and wait.
For me, acceptance is like that, the fact that i get a sharp reminder every day, is also a good reminder. When you are in pain, you want to do something about the pain to stop it. For most people that would either be in the form of a pill or a sleep. However strangely things do come together in my life and maybe sitting still and waiting is a good way to actually find the way forward.
I know there are millions of people in the world that suffer with ongoing chronic pain that interferes with their very existence. So today the answer is to sit and do nothing. Find something beautiful to either sit and look at or listen to or just find somewhere quiet and peaceful and sit and feel the quiet, hear the quiet, see the quiet, taste the quiet and smell the quiet.
